Even though it’s still cold outside, we can dream of the fast approaching warmer climate. We continue our guide to shopping for Summer 2012 with a focus on this season’s staple colour – white. Whether you’re looking for something special for a night out or you want practicality and style; white is where it’s at this Summer.
As white is such a fresh colour, we recommend a minimal graphic look if you want to achieve timeless elegance. Celine and Stella McCartney have led the way with the minimal trend; from flowing tops for the day time through to power suits, it’s a look that can suit everyone. To add some colour and texture, a python handbag is a great addition to any outfit. For the day a simple up-do will complete the minimal look or you can go for messy tousled hair a la Freja Beha Erichsen to liven it up.
Wearing white will make you stand out from the crowd, but a bit of texture elevates this look to a whole new level. Whether it’s Chanel, Chloe or Louis Vuitton, designers are mixing it up this season with a range of textures; and we’ve had a hard time choosing out favourites.
Chanel’s classic white suit is ideal for the office and the layering makes the outfit flow and hug in all the right places. Louis Vuitton’s fun lace dress is playful and combines a variety of textures that make the outfit really stand out. Mixing texture is a perfect way to wear one colour from top to toe which they did at the Chloe runway.
But this season the most exciting catwalk belonged to Valentino. We are absolutely in love with this short dress. The structured and textured style hugs to your waist in just the right way, and with a simple up-do it’s perfect for an evening out.
